Jaws Reflection
"Jaws" was definetely a classic terror novel. The film is what we as an audience know, but the book is just as good if not better. The author's description of the gore that takes places is imagery that fills the reader with fear. The book did a good job conveying terror through a switch in perspectives and changes in sentence length. When the reader read the suspenseful parts of the novel, the sentences were noticeably condensed. This made the scene feel like it was at a faster pace which conveyed suspense. The switch in perspective was a contributing factor because you were the victim, the viewer, and the killer throughout the book. You knew how each of them felt and by having these three views come together in a novel, you felt a sort of multidimensional fear. Overall this book was wonderful. The story was well told with rich vocabulary and varying syntax, and the literary devices used made this novel a classic.
